I Can’t Wait To See: Good Hair….

I’ve talked about why I don’t talk about hair care that much on the blog before. I’ve figured out what works for me and I’ve run with it but I’m not about experimenting. For the record, I’ve had an adult strength relaxer in my hair since I was 3. I’ve always been teased about the fact that my hair is not like my sisters. They both have curly/wavy hair and well…I don’t. Don’t get me wrong, I grow hair like a weed, it’s long, it’s thick and healthy – I LOVE MY HAIR!

But on the opposite side of not having hair like your siblings, imagine having all of my hair! The picture of me in blue was when I was in the 5th grade – I was 10. My pediatrician asked my mother that year if I had a weave. At 10?! So I’m sure you can imagine that I got picked on too because my hair was so long. So there’s no winning with me and my hair. Even now at 30 my girlfriends ask me why I don’t keep my hair long. Because maintaining it is the worst and I honestly think I look best with a bob, but why am I bringing up all this hair talk? Because I cannot wait for Chris Rock’s movie Good Hair! As a father of two he decided to explore what is good hair and why black women are obsessed with their hair. I love it!! I cannot wait! I’ll be blogging about this on Friday, too. The trailer is HILARIOUS. Hair is such a HOT button topic in the black community. I’m actually considering cutting off my hair soon so I can easily reach a fitness goal without worrying about my hair. While I’m a little leery about rocking a baby fro, at the end of the day, it’s just hair and Lord willing, it will grow back.

I can’t wait to see Chris Rock’s take on this subject.
