How To Accessorize | Over-The-Knee Boots

over-the-kneeThe Steve Madden Blondee is today’s boot used for another post in the How to Accessorize series. I was asked a lot about how I would wear over-the-knee boots or how to accessorize them and I FINALLY put a post together.

I was very doubtful of the trend but I decided to face my fears and do the over-the-knee boot in a flat or with a slight wedge like the Blondee has and I wanted to do a different neutral so I chose grey instead of black or brown (it also comes in purple, red and a cool honey color that I contemplated too).

The only way I saw myself wearing these boots was with a pair of leggings or with a dress (I don’t own jeans that would be tight enough to slip inside of these babies, but I’d do that too). For the first outfit I paired them with a pair of denim leggings, a white tunic and a very cozy shawl collared sweater I got at Target for $12 (I love this sweater). My second outfit was a skirt and layering tee in grey and black with a shock of color with my We Love Colors tights in Amethyst. I also have on my new favorite hat my parents gave me for Christmas, a Michael Kors pom pom hat. It’s so playful and fun and it keeps me WARM! I love winter just for the hats.

So what is it that I like about over-the-knee boots? I feel like my legs are longer. Seriously. I’m only 5 feet 4 but something about these even with their small wedge heel made me feel very leggy. I thought these could go casual and dressy depending on what you wear them with (I wore them on Friday with a great bright blue shift dress, cardigan and belt for a presentation I had to give). The extra height in the boot gives your legs more coverage in the winter, so they’re a bit warmer than my knee high boots. And in regards to the Steve Madden boot in general, these are so comfortable! I want to put them on everyday while it’s still cold since I’ll have to retire them in the spring.

I’ve seen a lot of over-the-knee boots out there. The higher the heel, the easier it can look a bit strippery. So if you’re interested in trying the trend, go with a flat or slight wedge to make sure you keep it fun and fresh. So what do you think of the 0ver-the-knee boot? Would you wear it? Can you get down with my outfits?

I love the way you styled your over-the-knee boots! I agree with going with a flat pair or a pair with a very slight wedge. The tall ones always look like they belong on a stage performer like Beyonce or Rihanna. I would love to get a flat pair, but I’m still unsure if they would fit me since I have wide calves, so even a knee-high boot that fits is a challenge.

Oh maaaaan! How cute!!! I want these even though I can’t imagine wearing leggings with these legs. But I know they wouldn’t fit over my calves — which is always the problem. Help me become trendier D! I need you. Soooooo cute. And I love the striped skirt with the purple tights! Can I be you when I grow up?
