From September 2009 – December 2009 I lost 20 pounds. I stopped eating out as much and joined the gym. I try to workout at least 3 times a week and because I have a decent skill level in the kitchen and because I enjoy it, I cook. When I mentioned cooking a few folks said they’d love for me to share recipes and what I’m loving, so I’ll try to do a Cooking Light segment a couple of times a month.
What you should know up front is that I’m obsessed with Cooking Light Magazine and I’ve built a week’s worth of meals from an issue. I like them because it’s light cooking but it is definitely full on flavor. My latest obsession is a recent feature called the Jalapeño, Sausage, Jack, and Egg Breakfast Braid.
This is a little bit of egg, onion, chicken sausage, cheese, and jalapeño wrapped up in a yummy crust. My husband and I love it because you can slice it up and have it for 2 or 3 days as your breakfast on the go instead of something you buy in the freezer section. I made one and brought it over to my parent’s house last weekend and my sister told me it looked like something that came from Panera – what a great compliment! Per serving it has 164 calories and 10.4 grams of fat. It’s satisfying and really tasty and I’d definitely suggest you try it. For the recipe click the link above and look below for a slide show of my images of me making it at home.
Enjoy!

I'm DWJ and this is my style journal. I'll talk about how I accessorize with jewelry, handbags, shoes, and makeup Monday through Friday every single week. I'll also throw in a few posts about what I love in my everyday life. Thanks for stopping by and come back really soon.

Thanks so much for adding this “Cooking Light” segment to the blog I love it! I will be trying this one for sure!
Looks awesome! I usually can’t deal with cooking light, because even though it SOUNDS good, the pictures look..not so hot. Thanks for taking a gorgeous photo…will be making this weekend!
That looks incredibly good. The recipe says something about a refrigerated pizza dough. Is that what you used? Do you have a recommendation of brand?
LA Cochran´s last blog .."I heard it through the grapevine" –Marvin Gaye
@LA Cochran Pillsbury makes a really yummy crust and they make it in just a baking sheet (I think that’s what they call it now). It’s flaky and buttery AND you can get a coupon for it on their website!
@Jinsher Thanks, I’m working on my food photography
LOL
@Roni I am telling you, I have not been disappointed in what I’ve made yet. It’s so yummy!
@Edythe You definitely have to make it. It’s so simple and easy and my husband wants it every weekend now! HA!
@Jaci thank you, thank you
First, congrats on the weight loss, I am so jealous. Second, I love this recipe because of it’s versatility. You can fill the pizza dough with chicken breast, pesto, tomato, and mozzarella or spaghetti sauce, veggies, pepperoni, mozzarella, and garlic butter on top for a quick, delicious, and healthy dinner. Heck, you could probably do something similar with a pie crust and cinnamon sugar apples for dessert. The possibilities are endless. I LOVE IT!!!!
