I Could Go Preppy For This

Bass Women's Enfield in white perforatedBack in high school I worked at the Outlets where I lived. I worked for Izod (deep down I must have known I’d end up playing golf when I grew up) and occasionally when they were short staffed they would send me over to the Bass store since we were owned by the same parent company. Most of their shoes were fairly traditional (and still are) but I could always find a cute option or a great canvas sneaker for summer. I think I can make any shoe work. So when I found their classic oxford but in perforated white leather I got excited.

I’ve been thinking about oxfords, a lot. They’ve been on my mind to wear with my wider leg slacks and to possibly pair with a flirty spring dress and a cardigan (I have to see that combo on to see if I can really pull it off). I talked about the super cute silver oxfords I found before but I’m kind of smitten on the traditional oxford with a bit of a twist with the perforated leather.

It’s clean and crisp and the perforated leather screams summer. But I’m not 100% sure. What are your thoughts? Do you love them? Do you hate them? Could you rock them yourself? Let me know!

I kinda love them….BUT I’m not sure what I would wear them with? My Mom taught me all these dumb fashion rules when I was younger but somehow I just can’t seem to stray far from them. Wearing oxfords were the tops of the shoe aren’t covered is a faux pas in her book…oh you stupid rules I can’t unlearn!

I go back and forth on the thought of actually purchasing oxfords. I’d love to wear them with skinny jeans and a frilly blouse- or a floral chiffon dress. That being said, I’m nervous about being able to pull them off. I blogged a few styles a while back – but currently the Steve Madden Steven “Tuxedo” style has my eye. http://www.shopstyle.com/action/loadRetailerProductPage?id=77227061&sbid=264280&sc=1

I love flats and my style usually has a preppy influence- so I don’t know what’s stopping me. Maybe it’s fear of looking too poser-ish? I’ll let you know when I go through with it- ultimately it’s a DO in my book.
