Monday’s Manicure | Essie Splash of Grenadine

Essie splash of grenadine Can you tell I take my camera with me everywhere? I was walking across the street looking down so I don’t trip (because I do) and I thought, how cool would the asphalt and white lines be in the background of a nail shot? One of the suggestions when I did the reader survey was to change up the Monday’s Manicure pictures – so here you go, Kristine ;)

I was happy with the way the picture turned out because at least my hands weren’t ashy at that exact moment but they look a little wrinkly – I’m going to have to work on that next.

I painted my nails on Friday night with Essie’s Splash of Grenadine, part of the summer collection that isn’t available online yet (you can sign up for the mailing list to be notified here) but I was able to grab a bottle at my Douglas shop during my lunch break. They always seem to have the nail polishes as soon as they come out!
Revlon’s Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick, 660 Berry Haute is a bit of a change of pace for me for spring. You can see me wearing it here in the Beauty Challenge photo set. This lighting was funky but I still love the color in the tube and on my lips.

So first I have to say that I really love this color. It’s a mix of lavender and pink and it’s a pretty awesome color for spring. This is with two coats and the formula seems a bit runnier than in other polishes so I try to take my time when applying Essie colors. I think the other reason I’m smitten on this color is because it matches a fairly recent drugstore lipstick I picked up on sale at Walgreens (gotta love drugstore lipstick prices).

Something about this color seems so happy and bright and when I realized it matched my lipstick almost perfectly I immediately put it on. So do you match your lipstick and nail color? Or what about matching manicures and pedicures? I’ve got this on my fingers and a deeper berry shade with LOTS of sparkle on my toes. So they don’t exactly match but they go. What do you prefer?

LOVE the color. I’m obsessed with anything purple recently.

@Sydne I just love that it’s not a deep dark purple and it’s not a bubble gum pink, it’s somewhere funky in between :)

Oh wow, so pretty, how does Essie compare to OPI?

@Vyque Essie’s formula seems a bit thinner to me than OPI but I think it wears really wear. I think I have less chipping with my Essie colors than any other. They’re one of my favorites but their colors had been fairly modest lately so I hadn’t bought as many colors.
