I grew up in homes filled with artwork, painted walls, color and warmth. I strive to make my home feel as warm and wonderful as the homes I lived in growing up (I grew up in 3 different states and 4 very different but very lovely homes). One of the things I’ve always tried to do is find interesting artwork and photographs to put in my home.

My latest artwork obsession? The artwork of Fifi Lapin. You may remember Ms. Lapin from my LeSportsac wallet with her image or most recently from my vision board.

I think she is fashionable and adorable all rolled into one. I also love that she’s a fashionable rabbit. She’s not a person or a particular race or size, she’s just perfect and adorable in her own bunny way.

Ahhh…hello, Friday. Oh how I love you oh so much. Why do Friday’s bring so much joy? Possibly because the weekends are full of so much possibility! I’m excited, this weekend I get to hang out with a fellow blogger who has recently relocated to DC. I want to show her what makes our city great but it is going to be 99 degrees tomorrow with high humidity. YIKES! I know that I’m going to wear something flowy and light, probably a maxi dress or some cotton dress of mine but I wish I had the Jessica Simpson Collection Swirl Floppy hat to make my summer heat outfit complete.

I’m not going to lie, this hat probably wouldn’t fit my large head because it is a one size fits all but that doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s not cute or that I’m not lusting after a hat like this for myself. I love the boho chic vibe it’s giving off, which would be absolutely perfect with my Ferragamo sunglasses. I’d be giving off a lot of glamour even in the midst of a heat wave, don’t you think?

Stay cool this weekend if you are in crazy hot weather like me. I’ve got a lot of things coming up for the blog in the next couple of weeks, I just have to get myself organized and take a lot of pictures and even do a video review or two! I’ve always been a hat girl. I love a good newsboy cap, fedora, baseball cap – I’ll rock it. For the longest time my husband has been trying to get me to rock a Yankee fitted because he is from Brooklyn. Well, I’m not a New Yorker, so I guess the Yankee fitted never really resonated with me. I just didn’t see why it was so great, so I always passed whenever he tried to buy me one. I’ve moved around a bit and I honestly call Maryland/DC home, so I think it was only appropriate that my first fitted was a Washington Nationals one. This is the home team and the Hubby wears a Nats hat too. Plus, I have W in my initials, so I kind of love anything with a W on it. I’m an easy sell.

I love that it’s green and has crazy scribbles all over it, like I was doodling all over it one day at a Nats game. Which reminds me, the Nationals are having two Ladies Nights this year. I had a blast the first year when my girl EJ was their comedic entertainment for the evening. Ladies Nights will be June 10th and August 26 and you can find out more information on ticket prices here. Perhaps I need to go just so I can rock my new hat

Fridays really do tickle me pink I just love the weekend and I loathe Mondays. I think I’m extra happy because I’ve got a few secrets that involve 2 really nice giveaways coming up. YAY! Be prepared to be excited about 2 great prizes on the Art of Accessories in the next month. One from a brand I adore and the other is something that’s pretty darn big…but that’s all I can tell you for now.

So for this Friday I was thinking about my weekend and sunshine and being outside. That seems to be all I want to do lately, hang outside. And of course on top of wearing my SPF 50 I need a great pair of shades when I’m out in the sun. Right now I’m in love the with Ray-Ban Cats.

These are just so cool and fun, and a different take on the classic aviator shape. I love that the description for the glasses says, “Add a little bom-chicka-wah-wah to your life with these…” and that’s kind of how I feel about them. They’re very bom-chicka-wah-wah. HA! I own a pair of very big, very Jackie O shades but sometimes I want something that’s fun and playful and these would definitely fit the bill. Plus they come in bright colors! I’m a bit partial to the orange but these royal blue are also pretty great too.  As a person who also wears eye glasses I can appreciate the fact that they’re prescription ready as well! Perfect summer shades!

I’ve gotten several compliments in the last 2 days on 2 things I’ve been carrying with me, so I thought I would share what they are. It’s only fair, right?
The other day I left my sneakers at home, on a gym day. My husband thinks that subconsciously I did it on purpose because I just said I needed new sneakers anyway.  So I went online to grab a City Sports coupon and met him during lunch to try on some new sneakers. I settled on the Nike Free 5.0 v4. I’ve been a fan of Nike Free running shoes since they first came out in 2004 (I think). For some reason they make my feet feel great which is difficult for a person who has back pain that can radiate down to the arches of their feet.

Of course, I gravitated towards this fun hot pink and grey versions – I really only wear them in the gym and most of my gym clothes are pink so why not? I take any opportunity I can to be as girly as possible in all scenarios. I kind of like the fact that the laces and tongue are crooked on the shoe. Apparently that’s supposed to help take some of the pressure off of the top of the foot and arch from when you tie your laces tightly. Okay. I just think it makes them a bit more fun.

My second bit of fun is on a totally different spectrum of accessories, a wallet.

The folks are Lesportsac were kind enough to send me over a few bags to review and they gave me the Lily wallet in the Vaudeville print. The Vaudeville print is part of the Fifi Lapin line, created by “the world’s most stylish bunny.” I read Fifi’s blog and follow her on Twitter and it’s all whimsical and fun, just like the prints. I thought this wallet was absolutely adorable and so has everyone else who has seen me on the street with it. My Dad even told me he thought the print was super cute. Unfortunately it’s currently sold out – sorry.

I’m a fan of long zip wallets like this style (I own 3 – a Coach, Dooney & Bourke and this one) and what makes this one my favorite is that it’s slightly bigger than my other wallets AND it has a nifty little pocket on the front. I slip my passkey for work and BlackBerry in the front when I want to go run an errand during my lunch break. I like when I can contain it all in one place.
