I’ve been thinking about the direction of my life lately. What direction do I want my career to go in? How can I be more creative every day? What do I love to do and how do I turn that into a job? I’ve been asking myself those kinds of questions, frequently. My brain is always buzzing and I never seem to write any of it down.

I downloaded May’s issue of O Magazine to my iPad because on the cover I saw an article, What The Heck’s A Vision Board—and How Can It Change Your Life? by Martha Beck. I was intrigued. Perhaps I needed this to get myself started.

It was an interesting article. I’ve shared it with Jaci and Jessica because they’re my friends that would also be interested in this kind of thing and I’ve started to compile a few images of things that I love. Things that strike me and then hopefully let the vision board fall into place or help lead me to the next “thing” I need to be doing.

All of my items I realize deal with fashion or style of some sort. They also go very nicely together. I’m still adding things, I have some textured paper I want to tack to my vision board as well but currently it’s a digital board that will be living on the blog or in my Flickr account. Perhaps I’ll create a set of images I love and go from there. I’m not totally sure.

The article is definitely an interesting read, so I thought I’d share it. Perhaps it will help you find your vision too. Has anyone else tried something like this?

Happy Tuesday! I wasn’t really ready to get back to blogging after a great weekend in NYC and then a relaxing day in MD yesterday (I finally saw Eclipse and want to know why Taylor Lautner had his shirt one waaaay too much). It’s so hard to get back into the groove of things sometimes! But I’m back to the grind and wanted to share a really cool experience.

My uncle’s neighbor saw me taking pictures of my husband and his siblings on the front stoop of the porch at a BBQ. I have a Canon Rebel T1i DSLR, a bit fancier than a point and shoot but I’m still learning how to use it and really take great photos. I’ve always like taking pictures and have always had a camera but I’ve started to get more serious about it over the last year or two…blame the blog.

Well, the neighbor, Michelle, asked if she could see my camera and then she said, “I think I have some lenses in my house that will fit this, want to try them out and play around?” Um…yeah! How can I ever pass up an opportunity to try something new?

Turns out, Michelle is Michelle Agins…Pulitzer Prize winning NY Times photographer. She also took all of the photographs in the book Sisterfriends that I got from my sister a few years ago for Christmas. Best hour and a half I’ve ever spent. She just kept putting on lens after lens saying now take  a picture of that and try that, and over there! It was insanely cool and wonderful to get to see how powerful my camera really can be. The best part was when she told me, “someone let me play with their camera years ago and now I’m passing the favor forward to you.” So does this mean I could have a Pulitzer in my future some day too?! How insanely amazing that would be.

The pics above are just pics I took before the day before on the Brooklyn Bridge with the family. I was festive all weekend with red, white and blue, I like to be a little cheesy. When I was younger I remember tie dying a few items with my sister. They were all purple and we weren’t the best at it but it was fun and still makes us laugh to talk about it now. Now, I have my very crafty and creative friend, Jessica, who used to work for a designer and has dyed fabrics in a bathtub like a pro.

I’m down for a new tie dye project.

The Gap has some gorgeous flowy tank tops that are tie dyed, but they’re $45 – I’m totally not going to pay that price. So I’m interested in trying out iDye, a desolving packet of dye and all I have to do is add salt to my wash cycle and whatever I want to tie dye.

Now I’m just on the search for the perfect tank top to try. I need something inexpensive so I can buy a few to try out my dying technique. I’m pretty sure I won’t get it perfect the first time but I have to try it.  I would say I’d sew a tank top but when would I have the time to do all of that? I barely have enough time to sleep let alone have a full stitch and bitch session.

I’ll let you guys know how the process goes.

Today is definitely a light posting day and probably tomorrow too because it’s my 7th wedding anniversary today. YAY! It’s hard to believe that 7 years have flown by this fast but they have and I’ve loved everyday that made me DWJ. It feels like yesterday that I was saying my I do’s to my KBJ but I know we definitely have a lot more wonderful years together and much more to do and experience together. Love is a wonderful thing.

So forgive me for my lack of posts today and tomorrow since I’m going to be spending the day playing golf with the husband and celebrating 7 years of marriage.
