Today is one of those days where I got little to no sleep last night (thanks to my lovely snoring husband), I’m exhausted and dragging and the grey weather isn’t helping. Instead of complaining I decided I needed to create a list of things that make me happy right now to kind of keep my grump in check and life in perspective.

Laughter. I laughed a lot with my sisters this weekend and my family at dinner last night. That’s always a good thing.

Cooking for friends. I had 2 girlfriends come over yesterday and I cooked and we sat and talked (and ate) for hours. Good food and good company always make my Sunday wonderful.

It has gotten chilly incredibly quick lately and I got a chance to wear my circle scarf that I knit for myself. AND I got a compliment on it while I was out shopping. YAY!

My office coffee machine has free Dove chocolate hot chocolate. Thank you!

I’ve already started to line up some great features for the Gift Guide for this year. YAY!

So that’s what’s keeping me in my happy place right now, what’s making you happy today?

Monday is here already and I feel like my weekend was spent waiting in anticipation for a hurricane to blast my house. We did get ridiculously strong winds and TONS of water but aside from a leak in my front window that was very small, we survived. I didn’t complete the items on the 33 in 33 for 33 list like I wanted to (I was afraid I would lose power so I never pulled out my sewing machine) but I did spend a lot of my weekend laughing with my sister and husband eating a lot of cookie cake (pictured above). We figured we needed to bake a cookie cake before the power went out because that would be a crucial staple in our hurricane rations. And it was good.

Tonight I’m going to my third baseball game in 3 weeks – how in the world did I get suckered into this?! The Yankees are playing the Orioles and my husband is a Brooklyn boy who loves the Yankees and when our friends in Baltimore said they were buying tickets he immediately said sign us up. Fortunately, I really like those friends in Baltimore, so I’m sure I’ll have a night filled with laughter.

My posting may be sporadic this week. Tomorrow is my big bday and I’m getting ready to take a vacation all next week, so be patient with me if posts aren’t as frequent.

I don’t know why, but this photo makes me think of how I feel when I’m worried. So consider this how I’m feeling about Hurricane Irene coming my way this weekend.

Ugh.

I’m going to think about being inside in the house with the horrible weather as a way for me to catch up on all the things I haven’t been able to finish. If we don’t lose power I’ll sew (and cross those 3 items off of my 33 in 33 for 33 list) and probably dance to the Michael Jackson Experience and Just Dance 2 with my husband and sister. If we lose power, I’ll be reading every single September issue I’ve got from cover to cover and play lots of Scrabble.

I’ve got groceries, water, flashlights and a gas grill outside if worse comes to worse but I’m stocked and prepared for the worst hoping for something mild. If you’re on the east coast, be safe and stay dry. And if you’re not in the path of Hurricane Irene, be thankful.

It’s allergy season, pollen is everywhere, my eyes are irritated AND I’m a daily eye makeup wearer. Enter, Visine Soothing Wipes to the rescue.

I heard about these wipes from my girl Bren at So Much Pretty, she keeps them in her gym bag and says they’re amazing makeup remover. Hmm…Bren knows beauty so I’ll bite and I head over to my Walgreens to pick up a jar. They’re not super wet wipes, they’re not oily like my traditional makeup remove baby oil, they’re the perfect balance that won’t irritate my eyes or leave me with blurry vision. The pads are soft and soothing after a day where I’ve had pollen blown in my face. When it comes to an eye makeup remover they’re pretty perfect in my book. I’ve even given them to my husband when he had red irritated eyes after a run in our neighborhood.

Whether you have allergies or not, these are great mild and soothing makeup remover. If you have allergies, buy these by the caseload. You can thank me later.

I’ve been thinking about the direction of my life lately. What direction do I want my career to go in? How can I be more creative every day? What do I love to do and how do I turn that into a job? I’ve been asking myself those kinds of questions, frequently. My brain is always buzzing and I never seem to write any of it down.

I downloaded May’s issue of O Magazine to my iPad because on the cover I saw an article, What The Heck’s A Vision Board—and How Can It Change Your Life? by Martha Beck. I was intrigued. Perhaps I needed this to get myself started.

It was an interesting article. I’ve shared it with Jaci and Jessica because they’re my friends that would also be interested in this kind of thing and I’ve started to compile a few images of things that I love. Things that strike me and then hopefully let the vision board fall into place or help lead me to the next “thing” I need to be doing.

All of my items I realize deal with fashion or style of some sort. They also go very nicely together. I’m still adding things, I have some textured paper I want to tack to my vision board as well but currently it’s a digital board that will be living on the blog or in my Flickr account. Perhaps I’ll create a set of images I love and go from there. I’m not totally sure.

The article is definitely an interesting read, so I thought I’d share it. Perhaps it will help you find your vision too. Has anyone else tried something like this?
