I took a mini break from blogging this week and I think I’m going to not post daily like I have done for the last 3 and a half years. There will be a modified blogging schedule but hopefully the content will still be more of what you love. I haven’t taken any outfit pics lately because I broke out in a rash (I think a mix of stress, allergic reaction and the fact that I’m getting sick) so I haven’t been looking my most fabulous, but my husband has been so I thought I’d share his outfit today instead.

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, I’m sure you know how much I love my husband. I think he’s quite adorable, funny and so smart and he loves me to pieces ( I’m pretty lucky). He’s also running a marathon in January! So I’m pretty proud of him too. I’m also his stylist or at least that’s what he always calls me. Lately he’s wanted a few new pairs of shoes that were leading into the preppy side and in the last week I think I’ve helped him find the perfect vibe he wanted to portray in his clothing.

We stopped at the Bass Outlet and picked him up a pair of greyish blue Bucks and he’s recently added some very nice wingtips to his shoe collection (if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you might have seen this picture of his growing shoe collection). I’ve made him wear more color over the years because I think he carries color so well (yes, I bought that teal sweater) but what he loves are the accessories. Wildly patterned socked, bold ties and cool shoes. Oh and my watch addiction has rubbed off on him as well, except his tastes in watches is much more expensive than mine.

I kind of love how he’s evolving as we’re getting older. He’s not a 20-something young guy, now he really looks like a grown man who knows what he’s doing. I love it. I love him to pieces.

This is a picture of my Dad that I took on our great family vacation in January to San Francisco. He was laughing at the sea lions on the dock and didn’t even know I was taking a picture of him. I saw a random tweet by Kodak to submit pictures of your Dad to feature on their website and then have a chance to be 1 of 25 pictures featured on their billboard in Times Square.

This is my picture on Kodak.com today! It’s only for today BUT my picture was selected as the 1 of 25 to be on their Times Square billboard!

When I told my Dad his picture was selected he asked me if it was because he was so handsome, or if it was my photography skills. I told him it was 50/50 but in all honesty, I think it might be 60/40 and the 60 is leaning towards the handsome.

A year ago I was just thankful that my Dad made it to Father’s Day. Now I’m so appreciative for every Father’s Day and day in between that I get with him. He wants to drive to NY on Sunday to take his picture with his picture on the billboard and I think that will be an awesome way to celebrate.

And if you haven’t had the chance to today, tell your Dad you love him. I try to as much as I can.

I have been slacking on my gift guide duties. I know, I know. That just means I’ll have to do something spectacular for Christmas. So I thought today I should toss out a few Father’s Day gift ideas since it is Sunday.

1. Baseball tickets: It is baseball season and who doesn’t like going to a good ol’ ball game? I actually love the Nationals Stadium in DC, not because I love the game but because of the food and drinking! Our stadium has so many of the great local restaurants that I have to get myself prepared to eat all day long.
2. Converse, Jack Purcell: Buy Dad a sneaker that is just as classic as he is. I love an old school sneaker and these are tie dyed Jack Purcells. Too cool.
3. iPad: Every guy loves a gadget, why not grab him the ultimate gadget to show him how much he’s appreciated.
4. Beer Brewing Kit: If it was Father’s Day for my husband I would totally buy him his own beer brewing kit. He loves beer and is always fascinated by cooking and how things are made. This way your Dad or you guy can make his own special brew.

My Dad got his Father’s Day gift from me on Mother’s Day, a gift card to go with my Mom’s gift card towards the iPad they share. They’re so tech savvy it’s too cute.

KBJ has fickle skin. It doesn’t like things that are too heavy or too fragrant, it’s almost like Goldilocks and the three bears. He has to get the product that is just right. I on the other hand have a fickle nose. If his body wash or cologne is too heavy I get nauseated. So when Dove Men+Care came out we were both curious, would it deliver what he needed skin care wise? Would it be too heavy and fragrant for me?

The verdict…it’s kind of fabulous.

What KBJ said he likes about it:

• It has just the right amount of moisturizer. It has the perfect balance. Other products make me feel too dry or too oily.
• The smell is clean and that’s all you really want. Other body washes try to be too masculine and it’s just the right scent.
• I appreciate that it’s a good face and body wash. When I was younger I used Dove facial soap so it’s nice to be able to cleanse my entire body with one product, it’s very convenient.

Why I like it:

• He smells clean. I hate the overpowering body washes that make all the towels and bathroom smell like cologne.
• It’s clean. KBJ has bought body washes that actually stain the towels and no one wants to deal with that.

So far he’s tried Clean Comfort and Deep Clean (that one has a bit of exfoliation in it). He’s not big on exfoliation because he always feels like he has to do an extra rinse but has told me repeatedly to keep buying him Dove Men+Care when I go to the store. There is a third formula, Extra Fresh, and it also comes in bar soap as well. Right now it’s even on sale at Walgreens, 2 for $7 so I will definitely go grab 2 more bottles to add to the shelf.

Dove has always delivered great skin care for women (I’m currently in love with the Dove Go Fresh in Pomegranate and Verbena and their new moisture system – we’ll talk about that later) so I’m happy that they’ve added a men’s line to fill a void in the market. If you have a man in your life, point him in the direction of Dove Men+Care and they will not be disappointed.

KBJ has nice hands, no?

I know a lot of men don’t even think about manicures. Perhaps it’s the name or that they associate it with nail polish but it’s really about basic maintenance of nails and hands. The polish is just the cherry on the top for us ladies Keeping nails clean and neat makes a huge impact in my opinion and I hate to see a man with long ragged nails and hang nails.

At first, my husband never cared about how his nails looked and after begging and pleading he let me clip them and shape them. Then one day on our commute in to work he saw me rubbing cuticle oil on my nails and asked me what I was doing. I told him it helped to keep my cuticles soft and reduced the amount of hangnails I get in the winter. He then placed his hand in my lap and asked me to put a bit of cuticle oil on his hand too and from that point forward whenever I pull cuticle cream out, I have to give him an instant manicure in the car or when we’re getting ready for bed.

The folks at QTICA were nice enough to send over their Cuticle Repair Balm and Hand Repair Balm for the both of us to try. When I asked KBJ how he felt after he tried the cuticle balm he said, “rejuvenated.” HA! When I asked him to explain he told me that the cuticle oil smelled nice and made his nail bed look clean and feel soft, rejuvenated. The other day I heard him tell a male friend that the balm helped keep his hands soft and that the trick was to use a balm that wasn’t too greasy, “like that “Q” stuff she gave me.” I think the other part of why he liked it was that the packaging isn’t too girly, so he was okay putting it on at night before bed.

All winter long Ive been trying my hardest to keep my hands from being dry and cracked and I placed the Hand Repair Balm on my bathroom sink next to the hand soap. That way whenever I wash my hands, I remember to slather on a bit of balm. Like the cuticle balm, the hand balm has a light and pleasing sent and it absorbs into the skin very quickly and isn’t greasy. It’s definitely heavier than your average lotion but for all the hand washing I do with cooking and trying to stay germ free this stuff does the trick. My hands immediately look “rejuvenated.”

So if you need to rejuvenate the hands of a special guy in your life try the cuticle balm first. Once he sees how good his hands can look, he just might be convinced.
