Wednesday night I got excited because the Gap tweeted starting March 5th if you bring in a pair of jeans you’ll get 30% off a pair of their jeans. WOOHOO! I’m down to a single pair of jeans that fit right now (thank you Target for $24 jeans that fit fabulously) and I’d like to add another pair of nice jeans to my wardrobe. Seriously, my pants selection is getting pretty slim.

Since I had denim on the brain, I also decided that the Aldo Given Necklace was something that deserved a fabulousness shout out.

I don’t always live in sparkle filled statement jewelry, but I definitely love larger pieces of jewelry and this is such a fun and casual twist on the statement necklace. Plus, it’s a great twist on florals. When you think of floral you don’t always think of denim, right? So this is definitely something different but still fun and makes a great statement. I love when I stumble on great little pieces like this.

I’m off for the weekend, I hope you have a great one. See you back here on Monday!

I’m not a gym addict and I haven’t lost my goal of 50 pounds (and that is a realistic goal…I’m a very curvy girl) but I get that I have to put my fitness first in my life if I want to live long and have babies at some point. In the fall I got hit with a 10% pay cut at work and then after Christmas I got hit with another 10% pay cut (yes that means I’m 20% down…) and when my husband and I sat down and did our budget we decided that a gym membership was our splurge and the one thing we needed to focus on despite not having all the income we previously had. Believe me, I’d love to have my income back but I’m glad it helped us focus and really budget and plan for the future. Since extra splurges and purchases really aren’t in my budget, I have to think carefully about what I buy and why but getting the Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises was an easy decision to make. My husband has the men’s health version and I have the women’s and they go through every single exercise you could imagine and help you break down your exercise routine based on your goals.

I think I finally got to that point where I exercise and I like it. I exercise and I actually feel good afterward. I choose to exercise when I’m upset instead of eating a huge plate of hot french fries (because french fries always make me feel better) and this book is hopefully going to help me take my exercise goals to the next level. I want to keep this good momentum going and I need a way to change my routine up.

What I’m loving about this book:

  • It’s like having a trainer. Seriously. I already enjoyed the magazine but this book is all about creating the best workout plan to fit your goals.
  • They write it so you can understand the concepts and why you need to do certain exercises.
  • They don’t make you feel like you have to have a gym membership and they tell you what you need in a home gym to really make the program work for you.
  • The pictures explain each exercise and they’re clear and you will actually understand it.

For me this is a great reference, and I’m happy I added it to my library. I have a gym membership because I’m honestly too lazy to work out at home on my own but you can do it on your own. Now I will also admit, I bought this book at Border’s on my lunch break along with my first Cadbury Egg of the season…I even TwitPic’d it and Women’s Health Magazine {@womenshealthmag on Twitter} told me they weren’t judging me. It’s all in moderation, right?

Anybody else have any great fitness goals for 2010? Share! Help me stay motivated!

Red Hot: kensie girl Natalie

in Shoes

1093824-p-MULTIVIEWI’ve been thinking about a great pair of red shoes lately. At first I was thinking of a pair of red suede ankle booties but I’m done with winter, I’m ready for spring and flirty, fun shoes again. That’s why I’m head over heels for the kensie girl – Natalie in Salsa Red Suede.

Not only is this a great fun shoe, it looks like it’s actually wearable and comfort is key to me. It’s definitely a high heel (4 inches) but it has a platform and super cute chunky heels, which makes it easier to walk in. But I love the tomato red color and that they’re suede, I have a thing for suede sandals in the summer. I love the little cut outs, that it’s a peep toe…I just love it a lot and would love to add this to my spring shoe wardrobe.

Have I mentioned that I need to be independently wealthy? I totally do because I want to makeover my entire wardrobe for spring! I definitely need to start brainstorming on how to make that happen.

Forgive Me

in The Art of Accessories

2010 really has started off as a crazy year and I’m feeling like my brain is all over the place.

I have tons of ideas but no time to follow through on them (sigh…). Lots of things I need to take photos of to show you guys and no time to actually do everything I want to do. So forgive me for posting light. I’ve been thinking of taking a few days off of work just so I can get myself caught up in my blogging world but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’m so behind that I’m just mailing off the prizes from my giveaway for my blog birthday today (finally).

So I’m getting it together, slowly but surely. I’ve stumbled onto some great drugstore finds lately and have to talk about transitioning into spring but just give me a moment to collect myself. Okay?

clogs I have been a loud and proud clog wearer my entire life (I wasn’t too proud when my Dad enjoyed clogs as well…but hey, he’s part of that era). Perhaps I get my clog obsession from my Dad but even when clogs weren’t in, I was still rocking them. They’re comfy and so cute to me and NOW they’re on trend for this year (whatev – I’m not bitter). I’ve steadily had a pair of clogs in rotation since I was 15 but this is the first time I’ve ever fallen in love with such an insane pair.

I am totally obsessed with the KG by Kurt Geiger Hadassah Clog. There’s a massive platform, there’s a slingback, there’s lacing…it’s like 3 different shoes in one. Don’t even get me started on the gorgeous cement grey color that would go with EVERYTHING I OWN! I could totally see these paired with a great pair of colored tights (I have burgundy on the brain) or worn all spring and summer long with dresses.

The bad news is they’re insanely expensive (they’re in pounds so you know that pricing against the dollar stinks) and they’re out of stock. The odds are stacked against me to have these beautiful babies. I’m sad but I know that the price is what should hold me back anyway…sigh.

So is anybody else excited about the return of clogs other than me? Anyone? Bueller?

Peeps & Co

in Miscellaneous

I said on Friday that if I went through with designing a diorama for the Washington Post Peeps Diorama contest I would show it on the blog. I did it yesterday and it was a fun project. In the fall Snuggie hosted a fashion show during fashion week. It was one of those things that was so silly I would’ve loved to attend. I’ve sewn several blankets with sleeves in the last year, so I can say that it really is a wonderful thing to own. So I decided to use my diorama to show how I would’ve styled the snuggie fashion. I give you…The Peep Show {more images can be found on my Flickr page.

Do I think I will win? Doubt it. But I really did have a lot of fun making it. I got to do something creative in my day and that’s always a good thing. Plus, I got to got to the Peeps & Co store at the National Harbor. I didn’t think a Peeps Store could cause so much excitement and bring so much joy to my evening but it did. I had entirely too much fun.

week 6 And I’m back on the Beauty Challenge! My nose is no longer red from my cold so I was back to my normal beauty routine. I was happy this week because my skin seemed clearer than normal, it was freaky clear so I ran with it. I didn’t do much beauty wise because I wanted my skin to glow and I used a peachy toned blush very sparingly.

I did a lot of glossy lips last week. The top left photo was my Monday look and I did a very cool multicolored eye with pink and purple shadow. That was about as jazzy as I got that week other than my very kissable red pout.

I’m working on changing up my daily routine so I don’t do the same boring thing everyday but sometimes it’s just so easy to swipe on pink gloss and a neutral eye shadow.

I did want to answer a question/address a beauty thing that I think everyone should have in their makeup kit – a neutral eye shadow with a bit of shimmer that matches your skin tone. Whenever I watch What Not To Wear, Carmindy always says she’s sweeping a vanilla shade across the eye…that obviously doesn’t work for me. My staple eye shadow is Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Eye Color in Pussycat, it is a soft and sheer glimmering brown that I use as a base for most of my looks unless I’m going very matte. I’ve got several neutral browns, but this one is one of my favorites (I love loose colored shadow).

I’ll put detailed descriptions in the images on the Flickr set.

Last night I went to the Peeps store, yes the Peeps Store. I’m thinking about do a last minute entry into the Washington Post 2010 Peeps Diorama Contest. Crazy, right? But I think it might be fun. I have a silly idea, so if it all works out I’ll let you know and share pictures. It makes me giddy just thinking about it. I have until Monday at midnight to submit, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

On to the fabulousness, right?
luckybag You guys know I’ve been looking forward to spring, actually I’m dying for spring. These freezing temperatures and the prospect of more snow has me craving warmth and sunshine. It’s also making me crave an upgrade in my spring accessories and I’m all about crossbody bags so I can carry all of my work essentials. I’m in love with the Lucky Brand Jeans Crossbody Convertible Bag in off white.

The top folds over but you can carry it by the handle as a super long tote bag. I love a big bag! The off white makes it fresh and a great neutral that will go with absolutely anything you have in your closet, all year long. I love off white as a neutral instead of black, it’s so fresh. Why can’t spring come fast enough?!

Ok, I’m off to enjoy my weekend. I hope you have a weekend full of fabulousness too.
