Last Night With Alice Smith

I didn’t blog last night because I was at the Ram’s Head Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland listening to Alice Smith. I was also seated at a table with her Dad which was kind of cool and awesome all rolled into one. He was just like my Dad and is apparently her official photographer and was snapping away some amazing shots of her throughout the night. He told us of how she was going to get a PhD in English and teach and then 30 days after graduation she announced she wanted to be a singer. She had never sung growing up…but if you listen to her now you’ll be blown away. Oh and her Dad was also a Howard University alumni (2 degrees)…GO BISON!

If you haven’t heard of Alice Smith I suggest you download her first album ASAP. I’m waiting on pins and needles for her second album to drop and she sang a few songs last night that were stunning. Her voice is rich, deep and beautiful. She’s even more amazing live than recorded, which seems to be very rare these days. Something about her music speaks to me, so I thought I’d share my favorite song with you guys, Love Endeavor. Enjoy!

  1. Life is a wonderful mystery that each of us has the pleasure to watch unfold. My other daughter Robyn Smith (a Morgan U electrical engineer) was sent by a friend of hers your blog when she saw Alice Smith mentioned. So, we meet again! Thanks for your kind words about Alice. All of us will watch the mystery of her continue to unfold.

I will spend some time viewing your blog. Keep spreading good woods.

    Go HU!
