How Come No One Ever Told Me About This?!

Johnson's Baby OilI’m having a moment where I’m feeling stupid. Stupid because no one ever told me about Johnson’s Baby Oil and it’s beauty capabilities and I’m just learning about it now. NOW! Entirely too late in life. Sigh…

So about 2 weeks ago I went to the Johnson’s Baby Oil & Essence Magazine What’s Your Beauty Secret luncheon. At the luncheon they gave us gift bags that had a bottle of Johnson’s Baby Oil and the Cream Oil. Makeup Artist Tia Dantzler mentioned how great baby oil is for removing makeup.

I immediately thought, really? No. I don’t think so. Why would I rub oil all in my eye? Won’t that be irritating?  Then I remember my cousin asking me for Baby Oil one night when she wanted to remove her makeup and I asked her if she was crazy. Apparently I was the crazy one.

So I figured I’d give it a shot since I got a bottle for free in my gift bag. Now I’ve been hooked on old fashioned cold cream and recently I’ve been using a high end makeup remover and they’ve got nothing on BABY OIL! You see what I failed to realize is that it’s gentle because it’s made for babies. DUH! So I can take a cotton pad with a little baby oil on it and totally get all of my waterproof eyeliner off in a single swipe. I also am not taking off any lashes as I rub my makeup away which I do when I use other makeup removers. It’s magnificent AND it’s inexpensive! What have I been doing all this time? How come none of you told me about this?! I feel like I’ve been betrayed or something, LOL.

I’ve also been using the cream oil nightly when I get out of the shower and I’ve had a day or two when I’ve been too lazy to lotion in the morning but my skin is still soft and moisturized. I had to get over the slight hint of cocoa butter smell in the bottle they gave me (I’ve always hated cocoa butter but this is only a hint of the smell so I got used to it) but I like it. I really like it.

So call me a convert. I’m a baby oil fan and I’m singing it from the rooftops and telling everyone I know. Next I want to try the gel formula baby oil, just because! If I hadn’t gotten a gift bag, I would’ve been in the dark forever. So are there other beauty secrets I don’t know about?! Please enlighten me.

  1. Well then I’ll be right there with you on the uninformed front, because I also had no idea that it was so gentle in removing eye makeup! I’ve always bought high end eye makeup removers, because I thought they were better, but many times, they really weren’t. I’ll definitely have to get some of this back in my life!

  2. I am going to say “no” to the vaseline comment made by Jaci. If you’ve met my friend Josh, who stains everything he touches, you’ll understand why.

  3. The baby oil gel is great. Use it on damp skin when you get out of the shower, and then towel off. I love baby oil products. A secret I have is to lightly dampen my eyeshadow brush before dipping it in the shadow. It makes the color stick to your eyelids without being gooey and clumpy like gel/cream shadows.
