Some things I keep in my closet never change. I always have to have a pencil skirt and at least 1 skirt with a fitted waist and flared skirt (very 50s). I keep stock in deep scoop neck t-shirts in every color but always lots of black and white. And I always, always have a pair of silver flats.
Right now I’m wearing the Nine West Stavo, a pair I picked up a month or so ago on sale to replace my Ann Klein silver loafers with a buckle that had previously replaced a pair of quilted Nine West silver ballet flats. Silver flats have been a wardrobe staple of mine for years.
Why silver? Metallics are always a great neutral that seem to add a bit more umph to an outfit. I actually don’t have many pairs of black shoes and I prefer to have silver as my go to neutral. Plus it adds a fresh take on my work basics and can help add some pizazz to a blah winter day (I love black tights and silver flats!).
Today I’m dressed nicely for an event where I’m press. I know that I’ll probably be standing and taking lots of pics so I want to be comfy. Since I decided heels were out of the question (I cannot do a good job when I’m tired and my feet hurt) I added my sliver flats to the outfit. I feel just as put together as I would have with a pair of metallic high heels.
So what’s your favorite wardrobe staple? What do you buy over and over again?
metallic flats are a definite must have! They kinda function like a nude in that they go with everything! I like the soft loafer style you’ve got here… Nice!

I have a pair of leather silver ballet flats from Nine West I got for christmas. Um, they are amazing. And I COMPLETELY agree that metallic flats are a neutral. It adds a little zing and flash to any outfit, without going overboard.
