How To Accessorize | Alley Cat

Alley Cat
I have a secret place to take pictures now after work…in the alley next to my building! Jess and I discovered it when I took her pictures and she took my pictures for last week’s How To Accessorize | Flower Child. If anyone in my office looked out of their windows they could see me with my tripod and remote control for my camera just snapping away. It’s a bit odd and fun at the same time taking my own pics and I have a portable tripod that collapses and fits in my bag so I really have no excuse to not take pics.

This outfit is my casual work environment type of outfit at its best. It’s comfortable, but still put together. Our office has been a bit chilly, so I wanted to wear a cardigan and I picked up this open drape cardigan at Marshalls a few weeks ago for $14 (I love a bargain). This cardigan will probably be worn all year long and as it gets cooler I’ll just throw on layering tees underneath. I love the grey and oatmeal/off-white stripes and just the cool factor to it. I figure, it’s a trend right now to wear this kind of open cardigan, so I’m embracing it. I mean we all know I love a good cardigan. I decided to replicate the draping in the cardigan with my tank tops to add more interest. I actually think this cardigan would look great with just a white tee and dark wash jeans. I’m sure you’ll get a post with that exact outfit sometime in the future.

The folks at LeSportsac sent me the Passerby Handbag in Fresca that I talked about for travel a while back. I love this bag for a couple of reasons: 1. The print is crazy fun and goes with a lot of things, surprisingly. 2. It is great for the days that I go to the gym because it holds everything I want to carry to work plus my gym clothes in a little packing cube, water bottle and sneakers with room for more. I swear it’s like Mary Poppin’s carpet bag that you could pull a lamp out of, this baby holds it all. Prime example, that day I had my gym clothes, lunch bag, iPad, camera and collapsible tripod in the bag. It really does hold everything.

So what do you like to wear in a business casual environment?

What I’m Wearing: Tank Tops, Target | Cardigan THX Thanx Cardigan from Marshalls | Denim Pencil Skirt, Esprit | Silver Loafers, Nine West | Watch, Skaagen | Necklace, Survival of the Hippest | Bag, LeSportsac Passerby Bag (courtesy of LeSportsac)

  1. I really like this outfit. I have a fairly casual office and would love to find a dark jean skirt but can never seem to find one that fits nicely darnit!

  2. I think that outfit looks perfect for a nice summer day and a day at the office. Nice that you found somewhere to take your pictures, too! I know firsthand how difficult that can be.

For me, my office is very business casual and I definitely dress the part. I mostly wear Ts and jeans with flip flops or open-toed sandals. Pretty bad, huh? Some days, I do make more of an effort, and it’s easier to put on a casual dress and accessorize to blend in perfectly.

  3. My office is business casual and we can wear jeans on Fridays. I definitely use bags & jewelry to give my look an extra oomph.

I love the outfit you have on. Mixing prints is so fun. I have a LeSport Sac tote that has a floral print that I like to wear with a light gray pinstripe dress.

  4. I love the layering of your outfit! I tend to overdress for Business Casual. Or maybe it’s the people around me who think wearing crocs are acceptable in public who make me THINK I am overdressed! Ha…I gotta do some reflecting on that one! LOL
