After the Rain
After all that torrential rain we had last week, fall finally ushered its way in on the east coast. One day I had the AC on in the house and the next day I just needed to open the windows. I love the crispness in the air and I had been dying to wear this silk and wool blend houndstooth scarf the nice folks at Jitni sent over (they also sent me this scarf which I’ll show in another post). Jitni is a super cute online boutique. I love their collection of scarves and they have some cute jewelry as well. You should definitely check them out, especially if you’re into scarves. The pieces really are fun and whimsical. You can also find them on Twitter too!

I’ve had a few folks ask me how to wear a square scarf, and it’s super easy as demonstrated in the tutorial in this post. I think the tricky part is figuring out how you want to wear it. A scarf like this can go for a more dressy look or you can make it casual like I did. I needed to run a few errands the other day and what I put on was pretty simple, a white scoop neck t shirt, my jeggings and a pair of Chucks. I needed another layer for warmth so I popped on my cardigan but again, it was all too neutral, so I decided to add the scarf for a bit more interest as well as warmth. I love the lightness of this scarf and how nicely it draped, plus I’m a sucker for houndstooth. I don’t know why but I just love the print. The wind was blowing me around a bit when I took these photos so it was the scarf ended up a bit crooked but I still loved how it looked. It was my replacement for a statement necklace because sometimes that can just be a bit much. Of course I decided I needed a bit of sparkle, so I had to carry my sequined Union Jack bag. It’s just too fun to resist and I believe in not saving the special things for rare occasion. Make everyday special!

So tell me, what are your favorite fall pieces to add to your wardrobe? Are you a scarf addict like me?
