Over the summer I was obsessed with eye liner because it lasts better than shadow in the heat and humidity. I started experimenting with winging out my liner and found that if you really want that sixties mod inky black winged out liner look, you need a good liquid or felt tip liner. My preference is a felt tip liquid liner because you feel like you have more control. I received a sample of the NYX Cosmetics Felt Tip Liner in jet black and I want to wear it all the time.
It’s waterproof and smudge-proof, inky black goodness. It lasts so long you might think you got an eye liner tattoo. Seriously. It doesn’t fade all day and I love that about it. The point stays crisp and it hasn’t dried out on me in the last 2 months, which is always a plus. It’s also only $8, so it’s a fantastic drugstore beauty bargain!
Sometimes when I do a great winged out black line on top, I do a great pop of colored liner on the inner rim on the bottom. It’s totally fun and unexpected. I see on the NYX website that they’ve got a new rainbow of colors for their slim eyeliner pencils…I may need to pick a few playful colors up! I just love playing in makeup.
I need to try this!! I’ve been doing the wing (or “the black line” as I usually call it) foreverrr – i guess it’s pretty much my signature makeup at this point. I’ve been using gel eyeliners with an angled brush for the last few years, first bobbi brown gel liner, and now MAC fluid line (which I LOVE because it gives a perfectly opaque, matte black line). Please swatch this for us!! I’d love to see how it looks on!

I just bought the Sephora one and tried it this week. It did dry out before I could get my second eye completed, but maybe I was taking too long? Any tips for using this kind of liner? Also, how exactly do you get an even “wing?” My first one was PERFECT, the second, not so much 😦
$8?! I’m sold. I’m definitely going to have to check this one out!

I know a lot of people that swear by felt tip liners. I need to give them a try. I have always used an angle brush and powder to line my eyes because it’s easy to smudge into the lash line for a natural look. Lately I’ve been wanting to try more dramatic eyes and I think I need to start with this liner! LOL!
