While I’m on vacation I’m having a few of my favorite bloggers share their beauty and accessories tips with you. These are folks I read every day, so I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do. Show them some love and leave comments! xoxo, dwj
I’m Kelly from Gouldylox Reviews and I’m filling in for DWJ today! In case we haven’t met, I’m a beauty blogger based in Baltimore who is obsessed with makeup. While it’s only January, I can’t stop thinking about the fresh trends that will be everywhere this spring. Lighter colors, fresh, bright cheeks and a natural lip are a dramatic change from the smoldering eyes that dominated the past holiday season.
I thought I would share one of my favorite looks with you today. It’s easy enough to wear to work, but thicken up the liner slightly above the iris and, with a short flick of the wrist, add a cat eye. You’ll have a sultry, come-hither after work date look.
I start every day with a skin care routine that varies from month to month. What almost never varies is my holy grail sunscreen, Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant, SPF 30. Next, I used Cover FX Brite Prep PrimerEstee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Foundation to get my face ready for my foundation. I applied in 1 by 1 with a large, flat brush.
Next, I used Mally’s Cancellation Concealer System to hide dark circles and imperfections all day. Now that my skin is almost as flawless as it’s going to get, I applied Mally’s 24/7 Professional Blush system in Glow Lighter, which will last until you take it off.
Now for the eyes. I applied Dalton’s Long Wearing Eye Shadow in Champagne from lashes to slightly above the crease. Then I applied the Plum Truffle color in the crease only. Then using Dalton’s Cream Eyeliner in Midnight, I took a thin, straight, flat brush and tightlined my eyes – pushing the cream liner directly in between my lashes. Afterward, I used a traditional slanted eyeliner brush to apply a thin line of cream liner at the inner corner of my lashes, thickening the line towards the outside of my lashes. To make my peepers really pop, I added a touch of a light, flesh tone liner, Rest Assured, from Tarte on my inner rim.
To finish off my lashes, I curled them, applied Urban Decay’s Lash Primer Potion and Maybelline’s VolumExpress One by One Mascara. Finally, I used Dior’s Crystal Nude Face Perfecter to blend away any final imperfections and to give my skin a healthy, radiant glow. On my lips, I used MAC Viva Glam V and followed up with the matching gloss.
So natural and easy! But bump up the thickness of the liner and add a more dramatic lip, and you are set for an evening after work!

I love the look and have been dying to try that Dior product. I may need to place a Sephora order today.
