Of course the weather is yo-yoing in DC but it’s definitely not as bone chilling cold as it has been. I’ve switched to a lighter coat but still wear a scarf and a hat to keep the chill away and be stylish. A girl’s always got to accessorize. So today I thought I’d share my outfit because this is my classic winter to spring look.
My girlfriend gave me this open front cardigan from the Gap for my birthday and I’ve truly worn it to death this winter. It has been an awesome layering piece and is perfect for travel or when I know I’m going to be some place where it’s a bit chilly. Today I decided I wanted to pull out a favorite jersey dress of mine that I’ve had for years but I knew I needed another layer to keep the chill away.
I was a bit boring with the tights and boots, very matchy matchy today but I’ve worn red or magenta tights for the last few days and I thought I’d tone it down a bit a work. I don’t want them to think I’m the crazy tights lady…even though I am. I went navy tights and olive green slouchy boots because I’m going to have to do a bit of walking today and later on this evening, so I wanted something comfy. Honestly, when I look at the picks now I wish I had thrown on a purply-pink pair of tights with this, it would’ve been perfection. Next time.
And to add a bit of color to my navy and olive, I added my rose gold metallic belt and my favorite strand of colorful pearls. I haven’t worn these in a while so I felt the need to pull them out, plus they play up the rose gold color of the belt too. As Charlie Sheen would say, that makes me a bi-winner. HA! I’m also doing a bit of metallic olive green eye shadow across the lid too, I love olive green as a neutral so I play it up a lot when I wear it.
So tell me, how do you transition your wardrobe from winter to spring? I’d love to know.
