How to Accessorize | Inspired by Pinterest

Pinterest Inspired

Have you ever wonder how I get inspired with my makeup looks or outfits? I thought I’d share one new source that has given me lots of inspiration lately. I have fallen madly in love with Pinterest (if you want an invite to try it out just email me and I’ll invite you) thanks to a reader and friend, Genevieve. Jessica told me about it but I kind of just thought oh this was another social media thing and I just don’t have time. WRONG. I’m inspired by all of the art and beautiful things folks pin and I kind of love it. So I’ve pinned an outfit to my Style Board and let that inspire my outfit that I wore yesterday.
Note that I said I was inspired by, which is why this isn’t an exact copy but I liked it. I loved the bold black and white skirt and I have a grey and black version that you’ve seen before but it’s for winter. So I pulled out my trusty dusty high waisted black skirt that had the same shape and pockets (why are pockets so wonderful on dresses and skirts?) and paired it with an oh so bright highlighter pink ruffled top and white tank.Pinterest Inspired
Add a pair of black and white polka dot wedges courtesy of Sugar Brand shoes and I’ve got my graphic pop – just not as bold as the inspiration board, and that’s okay. I added a few silver bangles, my white Swatch because I just wasn’t feeling wearing too many accessories today. I also wasn’t in the mood for a lot of makeup but I went for maximum impact with YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Soft Fuchsia. I love a bold lip with lots of mascara and a little black eyeliner.

Sometimes I see inspiration in other bloggers, on the street, artwork – you never know what might tickle your fancy. I love it when I find unique color palettes to mix and match with things I already have in my wardrobe. For me, life is all about color and how uplifting just a single color can be to your mood. That hot pink definitely had me feeling confident all day.
What is it about a great shock of color that seems to brighten your day? What inspires your wardrobe choices?

  1. I love this outfit so much. I love the shape of the skirt AND the pockets too! The pop of color looks amazing on you and I can totally see how it would help brighten things up and boost your confidence. Great outfit!!

I get inspired by great outfits like this. A lot of times I have similar shapes or colors in my wardrobe but I’m so used to wearing certain things together that I don’t branch out or mix things up. Outfits like yours inspire me to try different things to see if they work for my body. Being vertically challenged (aka i’m short) but have a chest and shape, it’s hard to find things that compliment without emphasizing things.

Thanks so much for this post!!! Now, I’m off to shop…i wish!

    • Courtney, I’m glad you can find a bit of inspirationđŸ™‚ I like playing dress up and finding new combinations. And I hope you enjoy Pinterest too – I’m hooked!

  2. YAY!! I’m honored by the mention on your blog and am SO excited you’ve fallen in love with Pinterest, too!
