A Weekend in Brooklyn

It is rare that I go to New York without my husband. He is from Brooklyn and usually when I say I’m going to visit a friend or going to an event he says, “oh I’ll drive you,” and he intends on visiting his family and friends but of course he ends up spending the time with my friend and me. I’m glad my husband enjoys hanging out with my friends (we do have a lot of fun) but when he’s not around we do different things, talk about different stuff (including talking about him) and it’s just a different vibe.

Whenever Jessica and I hang out there is usually a lot of tea drinking, magazine reading and laughter. It’s always like we pick up right where we left off and I love that about our relationship. I jokingly refer to her as my sisterwife but truly she is one of my best friends.

We went to the Keith Haring exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum on Saturday. Jessica and I both love art and I’m always so overwhelmed by artistic genius. Keith Haring has been a favorite of mine since the first time I saw his work when I was young.

This was my first time at the museum and it was pretty beautiful. They even have a gorgeous storage space that they let you tour where you can see pieces they have but aren’t on display currently. It’s very cool.

We also hung out pretty much in Brooklyn all weekend so that meant I got to see another amazing friend, Steven. He moved to NY two weeks before my wedding and whenever I’m in NY I have to see him.

He had on the cutest custom Vans. They were polka dot, red and then camo print on the tongue and the back. I of course had my Hello Kitty Vans on because walking in NYC takes a lot out of me and cute and comfortable shoes are a must. So that was my weekend in Brooklyn in a nutshell. How was your weekend?
