It’s always so hard going back to work after being at home for so many days. I actually didn’t take any vacation but I worked from home a lot last week so it was weird to have to get up at 6:30am and do my morning routine again. You know what else is weird? The Marble Cam app for iPhone (I use it on my iPad). It put a glass marble in your image reflecting it back, I thought it was kind of cool with my fireworks pictures and thought I’d share.
I also thought I’d share what I’m currently playing around with for my summer beauty routine. Since we’ve consistently had 100+ degree temps and humidity for the last week it makes it a bit difficult to do a full on beauty routine when I go into the office. Here’s what I’ve been trying now:
- Top Left: Bare Escentuals Illuminating Veil is my FAVORITE summer setting powder. I figure instead of looking shiny/greasy I might as well give myself a good glow and this stuff does the trick. Plus I love that BE products are super gentle on the skin and won’t clog my pores with the sweating and intense heat. Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! mascara is a new mascara love of mine. It makes my lashes look thick, full and insanely long. Seriously. I picked up a sample size tube at Ulta but I’ll be back for more.
- Top Right: NYX Cream Blush in hot pink (or in orange, it depends on the day or my color story) gives an awesome glow, lasts and the price is so nice. I used to wear Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge but this is a fraction of the cost and just as phenomenal. I also ordered the Maybelline BB Cream from drugstore.com to try out. I don’t know how I feel about it yet. Actually, I think I do because I’ve just been starting with a base of sunscreen and applying concealer so I guess I don’t love it. There’s your mini-review.
- Bottom Left: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer is the bee’s knees of concealers in my book. It’s waterproof so it goes the distance in the heat and humidity. Nars Illuminator in Laguna helps make my pink blush pop and gives a great glow to the skin. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Smitten is also a new favorite. It feels like a lip balm, wears like a stain and comes in a jumbo crayon. What’s there not to love?
So that’s how I’m creating my basic summer look. Sometimes I add a bit of eyeliner and do a slightly winged out line and then just gloss. Sometimes I just go for a flushed cheek and soft lip but these are the basics right now. What are your beauty staples?
