Last night we had a birthday dinner for my Mom’s birthday today (happy birthday, Mom!). Since I learned how to knit it’s pretty easy to figure out what to give my Mom for her birthday, she always wants something handmade. As soon as I saw the pattern for the Day Brightener Ascot I knew I had to make it for my Mom. She is always asking me how to loop and tie my scarves and this knit piece has a hole to pull the ties through so that it looks so nice when you wear it.
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll notice this started out in a very pretty cobalt blue…yeah I ran out of yarn and apparently the color was discontinued. So I was forced to start over and I’m glad I did. I didn’t make the same mistakes I did the first time and this one is almost flawless.
I love the loop (it was so easy to do and totally not intimidating as I thought it would be) and the pattern is super pretty. I’ve already had two other requests to make the same scarf.
I’m definitely going to be knitting this one again. And I even had enough time to knit up a little cap to match. It’s just the cutest combo on my Mom.
Wow that scarf is beautiful! I love the bright colors!
This scarf is amazing..It’s so cute because it reminds me my grondma, who used to knit such lovely and warm scarfs and socks for me…
