I’m back from a week long break in New Orleans, Lousiana – one of my favorite cities in the US. I also took an almost 2 week break from work between the Thanksgiving break and all of last week off and I needed and deserved it. Work has been taking up a lot of my energy over the last few months with changes and a promotion so it was nice to disconnect from at least my work email.
One of the things I love the most about New Orleans is the food. Everything is so decadent and delicious I can’t get enough. I had beignets and cafe au lait at least 3 times at Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter, jambalaya from Mother’s and gumbo from everywhere.
I also had the BEST macaroons ever from a little sweet shop called, Sucre on magazine street. I am still dreaming about the peppermint macaronsand will need to order myself a batch ASAP. They’re a new favorite holiday treat.
We also drove down to Baton Rouge for the day and we met their mascot Mike the tiger. Their campus was gorgeous, I was a little jealous I didn’t have that kind of state school experience but I will always love my alma mater.
We went with my family and I took our family photos for my mother’s holiday card and possibly my own holiday card…if I find the time to find addresses and mail something out. Perhaps a digital card is in my future this season. I needed the break and I’m happy to be back home and I’ve gotten a new energy to blog again – who knew?! I guess without stressing myself over a gift guide this year it feels easier to blog. So expect me to post more often over the next few weeks! Did you miss me while I was gone?
